Muslim Aid is an international humanitarian relief & development agency looking to employ a professional individual who will Head the Finance Department of MAB field office and will be highly committed to our mission, vision and values:
MA Bangladesh field office is looking for an experienced, qualified accountant with a good charity background .This is senior-level post directing the operations of the Finance Department and serving as chief financial officer to Muslim Aid Bangladesh Field Office and financial policy advisor to the Country Director.
The Head of Finance will ensure the efficient and effective delivery of all aspects of finance including financial management, accurate financial reporting to stakeholders as well as financial and accounting support. You will be able to explain complex financial issues to colleagues in simple, understandable terms.
Main Responsibilities
Strategy
• To assess organizational performance against both the annual budget and long-term strategy.
• To develop tools and systems which provide critical financial and operational information to the Country Director and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.
• To assist in establishing yearly objectives, meeting agendas, selecting and engaging outside consultants (auditors).
• To oversee long-term budgetary planning and costs management in alignment with organizational strategic plan, especially as the organization considers collaborations with external organizations.
Financial and Operational Management
• To oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, regulatory requirements.
• To maintain internal control safeguards and coordinate all audit activities.
• To manage cash flow and forecasting. To develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.
• To optimize the handling of banking relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash positions.
• To oversee budgeting and the implementation of budgets so as to monitor progress and present financial metrics both internally and externally.
• To provide clear, accurate, timely and user friendly (financial and non-financial) management information to the Country Director, senior management team and project staff
• To ensure appropriate records of income and expenditure are maintained and any financial returns required by donors are submitted in a timely manner in collaboration with relevant managers.
• To oversee continuous improvement of effective financial systems, including financial policies and procedures.
Team Management
• To mentor and develop a direct team of six or more, managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluation, and the building of an effective team dynamic.
• To guide larger, cross-divisional teams outside of direct span of control within programme areas.
Leadership
• To develop the programme finance based on the existing country strategy.
• To coordinate and manage donors of all programmes at country level.
• To create a shared vision, among all staff, of the organisation’s Finance aims and their role in achieving these.
Travel
• The Head of Finance may have to spend some of his/her time dealing with projects and beneficiaries if requires.
Other • Any other duties commensurate with the accountability of the post.
Education: ACCA or ACA with post qualification experience for a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in INGO/NGO sector
Knowledge: To have proficient knowledge in the following areas:
• generally accepted accounting principles

• Proven experience in INGO/NGO in a senior position
