Project brief: Under the UNFPA’s Country Programme 2013-2017, Contech International is implementing a National Advocacy Campaign on FP and birth spacing. Overarching goal of the campaign is to generate sustained political will and commitment within the current and future governments for universal coverage of FP services to manage the population growth, and the social and economic development of the country.
Position Summary: The “Programme Officer National Advocacy Campaign” works in the Advocacy and Communication Unit of Contech International, whose staff manage and participate in designing and implementation of advocacy projects according to a well-defined process that engages the client, its implementing partners and NAC’s long-term and short-term consultants. The incumbent reports to Program Manager and supports in implementation of project activities.
Responsibilities:
  1. Assist Program Manager in designing and implementation of advocacy tactics by supporting in programmatic, administrative and financial responsibilities.
  2. Provide support to Program Manager by supervising and monitoring projects activities and designated tasks to ensure project timeline is follow.
  3. Assist Program Manager in preparation of reports and submission in accordance with allotted time schedule while ensuring operational and programmatic integrity.
  4. Support M&E Manager in development of M&E framework.
  5. Assist Program Manager in producing Project Management material (i.e. Work plans, SOPs, TORs, Job Descriptions, Timelines, Work Break-Down structures etc.).
  6. Assist Program Manager in keep record of project/quarter/activity budget and disbursement, ensuring to operation within budgeted expenditure.
  7. Maintain record of Human Resource employed for the duration of the project and maintain MIS.
  8. Collect, analyze and compile data and generate periodic reports and be responsible for filing of documentation. 9.Perform any other task similar, but not limited to, his/ her job description assigned by the Program Manager or any other member of the senior management.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in social sciences, communication, public policy, political science. Exceptional candidates with other degrees will also be considered; • At least 2 years of diverse experience in the field of development, including advocacy and communication activities in donor-assisted projects, experience of working with UN systems is highly desirable; • Must have good prioritization skills, with effective decision making abilities, to cope in a dynamic environment and to operate on multiple fronts simultaneously; • Knowledge of development issues and concepts • Proven analytical skills and the ability to analyze a flow of complex information; • Perfect command of computer, internet and usual software (Word, Excel, Outlook) • Fluent in English
