New Zealand Principal Development Manager - Education

The mission of the New Zealand Aid Programme is to support sustainable development in developing countries, in order to reduce poverty and to contribute to a more secure, equitable, and prosperous world.
The main focus of this role will be within the Pacific region so knowledge of specific education issues and experience working with these countries would be beneficial.
The key purpose of the Principal Development Manager is to lead the development and effective implementation of a coherent Sector Plan to deliver tangible development results and manage the implementation of complex activities.
We are seeking an extremely competent Education expert who will have:
• Experience working in an international context and understanding of development issues and effective practice
• Strategic thinking and analysis capability at a complex level
• Understanding of international development issues and aid practice
• Proven relationship management, influencing and negotiation skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Established networks within Education
• Experience in development of joint initiatives for shared outcomes
• Experience in working on design and project management in complex situations
Varied credentials in Education, along with a graduate qualification in this field is required. You will be recognised within the Education sector as being a leader and a person of influence in this field.
This position will be Wellington based but will include regular travel to developing countries. It is for a three year fixed term.
You must be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate New Zealand Government Security Clearance.
