Background / General description:

Special Operations (CSO) comprises a group of highly experienced investment and restructuring specialists involved in work related to IFC’s troubled investment portfolio. CSO’s traditional work is designing and implementing workouts in the form of financial restructurings, and a host of other solutions that preserve to the extent possible, IFC development impact on jeopardy as well as potentially distressed investments. CSO undertakes its workouts either independently or jointly with portfolio management units.

Duties and Accountabilities:
Special Operations Officer at the GG/GH Grade level to be based in Hong Kong. Candidate must be able to undertake restructuring and recovery efforts on jeopardy or distressed investment cases. In addition, the candidate would be expected, in due course, to develop an understanding of the dynamics of the regional portfolios in one or more clusters and to actively communicate with the respective portfolio officers to explore areas of potential CSO value addition.

Selection Criteria:
The successful candidates would be expected to have the following general attributes:

---Academic background in finance, with an MBA or equivalent

---At least 5 years of relevant investment experience

---Knowledge of/experience with IFC policies, procedures, and operational activities

---Experience with portfolio issues

---Experience in restructuring projects desired.

---Experience in multiple sectors

---Strong negotiation and transaction execution skills

---Sound business judgment and strong analytical skills

---A self-starter requiring minimal supervision

---Willingness and ability to travel on short notice and frequently, as required

---Ability to build effective client relationships (internally and externally)

---Ability to effectively represent CSO in the region

---Excellent oral and written communication skills including demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and tactfully to a variety of audiences within and outside the Bank Group

---Ability to play an active role in knowledge sharing

---Demonstrated teamwork skills

---Ability to deliver high-quality work within tight deadlines
