Role:
The Grade Teacher is in charge of all administrative and academic functions, welfare and progress with respect to every student of the section/class.
Line of Reporting:
The Grade Teacher will report functionally to the Section Head or the Vice-Principal depending on the class in his/her charge.
Over all Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administrative – Maintain Administrative details such as Medical information, Parent sibling information, Attendance and Leave records, extracurricular activities and other Special needs requirements etc.
- Academic – Maintain Academic records such as progress cards (generating and issuing), Progress and Performance reports/records, Cumulative records and other academic records (as required).
- Monitoring Student performance – Track student’s performance and academic needs, fulfill student requirements (that impact academic performance), review student progress and liaise with subject teachers and parents to enhance student performance.
- Counseling Interface – Provide Preliminary counseling to students, refer students to counselor (if required), track student progress and welfare, ensure specific students attendance in Learning Lab.
- Coordinator – the Grade teacher will coordinate with the Subject teacher and Special needs teacher with regards to Curriculum delivery, assessments and reports, student progress and development.
- Communications – Communicate with student’s parents on matters related to the school, report cards etc. Address and attend to emergencies arising with regards to student health, academic or personal welfare (loss/theft of student property).
- Parent Interface – The Grade Teacher will be responsible for interacting with parents of all his/her class students with regards to Student, Academic, Emotional, Social and Extracurricular development.
- Subject Teaching – In addition to the Grade Teacher’s duties, the teacher will also perform the Subject teacher’s duties.
