Department of Civil and Natural Resources Engineering
Applications are invited for a full-time, continuing (i.e. permanent) position in the Department of Civil and Natural Resources Engineering at the level of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer (which spans the range from assistant professor to associate professor in the US system) depending on the successful candidate's relevant research and teaching record.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in a relevant discipline and have a demonstrated record of published research in geotechnical engineering or geomechanics. The successful candidate will have a commitment to excellence in teaching of core courses in geomechanics at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and will undertake research and supervision of postgraduate students. This is an exciting opportunity to participate in the further development of the geomechanics programme in a dynamic and productive department. Research and teaching interests in one or more of the following areas would be an advantage: seismic geotechnical engineering, foundation engineering, soil-structure interaction, geomechanics or geosynthetics. It is also desirable that the appointee will develop strong links with the design profession.
