Summary
The IT Project Manager role within the IT department is responsible for the following in the Brightstar Regional IT team:
- Plan, execute, and finalise IT projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and external contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle
- Assist with defining and detailing customer business requirements
- Assist with architecting and developing solutions to meet customer business requirements
- Providing guidance / direction / training to regional IT staff
- Assist with the provision of customer and production support for applications within the region
- Assisting with internal and external Client engagements
Key Activities
Strategy & Planning
- Define project scope, goals, success criteria and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
- Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and project stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
- Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders
- Plan, schedule & track project deliverables, milestones & timelines using appropriate tools
- Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyse results and troubleshoot problem areas
- Conduct project PIR’s (post implementation reviews) and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements
- Liaise with project stakeholders, decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve systems issues
- Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management
- Assist BA’s to conduct interviews to gather user requirements via workshops possible site visits, use case scenarios, and other methods.
- Review and analyse the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
Acquisition & Deployment
- Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals
- Assist with drafting and submitting budget proposals, and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary
- Where required, negotiate with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company
- Determine and assess need for additional staff and/or consultants and assist with appropriate recruitment if necessary during project cycle
Operational Management
- Direct and manage project development from beginning to end
- Develop full-scale project plans and associated project documents
- Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path
- Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
- Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans
- Build, develop, and grow relationships vital to the success of the project
- Review systems specifications, diagrams and charts to provide direction to the development team
- Provide possible orientation and assist with training to end users for all modified and new systems
- Assist with the interpretation of user requirements into feasible options, and communicating these back to the business stakeholders
Desired Skills & Experience
Education:
- Tertiary degree, preferably in IT
- Certification in recognized project management methodology (PMP / Prince2)
- Knowledge of the following types of systems desirable:
- ERP, Demand Planning, Purchasing
- Supply and Production Planning, Forecasting
- Vendor Managed Inventory systems (VMI)
- Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
- Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
- Web systems, Order Management systems
- Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
Knowledge & Experience:
- Between 7 and 10 years direct work experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution
- Experience in doing business in Asia
- Strong familiarity with project management software, such as Microsoft Project
- Demonstrated experience in personnel management
- Competent understanding of platforms, such as .NET, Biztalk and E-commerce platforms
- Familiar with programming languages such as SQL, XML/XSL, C# and Java
- Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis and design
- Experience overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products
- Ability to create systematic and consistent requirements specifications in both technical and user-friendly language
- Understanding of application development and software development life cycle concepts
- Ability to elaborate and assess an application/system interface specifications
