Lead Assessors, ANSI Greenhouse Gas Accreditation Program

Position Summary:
The American National Standards Institute, a non-profit organization and the voice of the U.S. standards and conformity assessment system seeks qualified Lead Assessors to serve on a contractual basis to evaluate the competence and integrity of Verification / Validation bodies against the accreditation criteria contained in ISO 14065, Greenhouse gases – Requirements for greenhouse gas validation and verification bodies for use in accreditation or other forms of recognition. Qualified with respect to ANSI ACP requirements to perform accreditation assessments on ISO 14065, they will be responsible for leading a team of assessors during the assessment of a validation/verification (VV) body and will report the findings to ANSI.

Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate the competence and integrity of GHG Verification/Validation bodies against the accreditation criteria published by ANSI;
  • Review activities of the bodies from impartiality of the organization to the competence of its staff;
  • The evaluation also involves observation and discussions at all levels of management and technical areas, and includes witnessing validation/verification activities conducted by bodies.
Professional Skills and Qualifications:
  • Applicants must have experience with Greenhouse Gas verification/validation processes and technical knowledge in one or more GHG methodologies, registry requirements, air quality compliance regulations, and other aspects of measuring and monitoring emission reduction projects and inventories;
  • In addition, applicants should have thorough knowledge in one or more related technical disciplines (environmental management systems, ISO 14064 and other GHG standards, sustainability, environmental engineering, industrial engineering, forestry, life cycle analysis, etc.);
  • Verification/validation program Lead Assessor must meet one of the following educational and experience prerequisites:
    • Bachelor degree or equivalent in technical field, six years of experience in any technical discipline; must demonstrate Management system or similar related experience; and
    • Non-engineering degree (four years) or equivalent and a minimum of eight years in technical field; must demonstrate Management system or similar related experience.
    • Associate degree or equivalent and a minimum of ten years in a technical field; must demonstrate Management System or similar related experience.
  • Assessor/Lead Assessor experience should include activities relating to at least three of the following areas:
    • Management system or similar management system (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001) design and implementation or assessments
    • Certification body assessments (ISO/IEC 17021, Guide 65, or similar standards)
    • Assessing data management and information systems
    • Assessing accounting system
    • Assessing GHG V/V activities.
