Lead Marine Engineer

Primary role is to support the inspection, assessment, development, design, specification and services related to floating offshore facilities marine systems and marine equipment primarily
  • Inspect, assess, develop, design, specify and manage marine systems and services in relation to floating production offshore facilities
  • Management and supervision of marine engineering subcontractors
  • Liaise with other parts of the Petrofac Group to identify requirements marine engineering support
  • Supervise and contribute to the preparation of Basis of Design, Specification, Execution Plan and estimates for ship conversions and refurbishments for FPSOs, MOPUs, FSU, FSO, FPU and risers
  • Co-ordinate input from other disciplines into marine specifications and layout
  • Assess the work done by engineering subcontractors, equipment suppliers and shipyards including assessment of subcontractor proposals and reports for marine systems.
  • Produce specifications for subcontractors and class societies
  • Perform quick and early evaluations of vessels and marine suitability based on limited information and short inspection visits.
  • Review documents, analysis and design outputs from sub-contractors and perform confirmatory calculations and analysis where necessary
Technical competencies:
  • Good knowledge of marine engineering requirements of all types of floating production units
  • Working knowledge of process, mechanical and electrical disciplines and their interfaces with hull disciplines
  • Good knowledge of applicable marine and floating production regulations – especially class/flag requirements for marine systems, stability, strength etc.
  • Familiar with international design codes API and ship classifications rules for FPSO
  • Familiar with marine structural, mooring and stability analysis methods and  tools

Minimum Requirements:
  • Extensive offshore industry experience with at least 5 years with FPSO contractor, shipyard or client role engaged in floating production services.
  • Must have worked on more than one floating production vessel project from concept to completion
  • Must have experience of a brownfield (conversion) FPSO project
  • Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or Offshore Engineering
