IT Network Analyst Australia

Ten of Barrick’s mining operations are found within the Australia Pacific region, with its regional head office located in Perth, Western Australia.

We are currently seeking an experienced and self-motivated IT Network Analyst for our Regional Head Office in Perth. Reporting to the Regional Infrastructure Manager, you will be responsible for providing efficient support to the sites within the Barrick Australia Pacific Regional Business Unit. This multifaceted role covers a variety of roles including supporting the design, installation and on-going operations support of network and telephony equipment throughout the region.

Each site has its own on-site IT support and it will be your responsibility to assist with the planning and migration of sites into our new Cisco based infrastructure where required.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide consulting services, design, and implement new network and telephony solutions that meet business needs and are in accordance with Barrick standards
  • Plan and implement migration of legacy network and telephony systems to current Barrick standards
  • Consult on the selection, maintenance and management of mobile devices including smart phones, tablets, satellite phones, remote IP wireless data devices, etc.
  • Manage and monitor local and wide area network service levels, performance, and Quality of Service (QoS), and escalate issues to service providers as necessary to restore service
  • Perform periodic software backups of network and telephony configuration
  • Ensure adequate maintenance and sparing levels are maintained for all network and telephony systems within the region
  • Manage vendor relationships and escalate issues where appropriate for network and telephony services, including wide area network services, billing management, requisitioning and receipting, and support services for Riverbed and other systems
  • Liaise with Barrick Corporate IT and regional Service Desk staff to implement and support global and regional network and telephony initiatives
Requirements:
  • Degree or accreditation in Telecommunications or related discipline
  • 5 years+ of experience working within network and IP telephony, specifically with Cisco IP telephony systems
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA, or CCNA Voice preferred)
  • Experience working with remote and/or scattered sites across a region
  • Working knowledge of Telstra’s and other service providers networking products including SIP based services
  • Experience managing providers of telecommunication products and services
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise contractors and remote support staff in support of the network and telephony environment
This is a full time, permanent position and will be based in our Perth Head Office in the CBD. Some travel will be required as part of fulfilling the requirements of this position, to our regions in Zambia, Saudi Arabia, Papua New Guinea and across Australia.
