Senior Resource & Development Geologist Australia

The Darlot gold mine is a trackless underground operation located on the Yandal Greenstone Belt, approximately 680 kilometres northeast of Perth, WA. Ore is treated by conventional carbon-in-leach at the onsite mill.
Position Objective
The Senior Resource & Development Geologist applies and monitors systems for mineral resource estimation, definition, reconciliation and reporting, to ensure integrity and quality of mine-based geology.
The Senior Resource & Development Geologist is accountable to the Geology Manager for the efficient and safe supervision of all Underground Geology functions at the Darlot Gold Mine. Within this role you will be planning, implementing and monitoring activities necessary to ensure the optimum recovery of Ore, plus plan and manage all aspect of mine geology.
Duties and responsibilities
  • Planning, scheduling and implementation of mineral resource estimation work.
  • Validate and modify existing resource block models using data from areas being mined and drilled.
  • Create, update and validate grade control models as required.
  • Determine appropriate parameters for resource and grade control model estimation
  • Undertake structural, lithological, geotechnical and assay correlations to enhance the understanding of economic mineralised zones.
  • Ensure appropriate sample and assay quality control measures are in place, adhered to, monitored and reported on.
  • Oversee development and projection drilling programs to ensure replacement of resources and reserves.
Qualification and Experience
  • Three or four year Degree in Science with major in Geology, plus previous experience simular role
  • Expertise in the use of geological resource models and modeling processes and a sound knowledge of geo-statistics and the reconciliation process.
  • Mining and geological modelling software packages with exposure to Vulcan
  • Proficient in Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Well-developed planning and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills

This position is fly in/fly out from Perth on an 8/6 roster, offers a competitive salary package in line with qualifications and experience.
