DRR Expert


ROLE, TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES The DRR Expert is responsible to: • Support the implementation of the program as per the INTERSOS DRR Strategy, reporting and update review of work plans and budget. • Build capacity of national staff on Community based Disaster Risk Reduction with particular focus on hazard risk and vulnerability; • Participate to the main meeting concerning the of the project of his/her responsibility; • Provide technical DRR guidance to INTERSOS staff to ensure DRR issues are incorporated and taken into account in the implementation of other sector programs; • Define project management organization and processes; • Support effective Disaster Management, in coordination with the Head of Mission.
JOB REQUIREMENTS • Advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent) in social sciences or discipline relevant to disaster management. • Extensive field experience in disaster environments and an in-depth knowledge of disaster management issues. • At least 4 years of experience in project design and coordination, with a special focus on DIPECHO projects. • Previous field experience in a relief NGO, in a similar role. • Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English is necessary. Italian will be considered a plus. • Knowledge of the procedure of international donors
