WildTeam
WildTeam is a small to medium sized conservation organisation working to save endangered wildlife and their habitats, with a current focus on tigers in the Bangladesh Sundarbans. WildTeam is a registered as a Bangladesh non-profit organisation and a UK charity. To make sure we have wild tigers in the future, WildTeam is looking to recruit a Law Enforcement Projects Coordinator to help combat the international threat of tiger poaching.
Job description
This job is for a fixed term (1 year) contract) with the option to extend for 1-3 years, depending on funding availability. The position holder will manage a team of 2-6 staff to increase the effectiveness of law enforcement in the Bangladesh Sundarbans by improving patrolling and application of the law, implementing technological solutions to increase detection of illegal activities, developing intelligence networks, forest crime monitoring, and identifying further opportunities for improvement of law enforcement efforts. To achieve this, this post will bring together WildTeam staff, government law enforcers and international expert networks to design the project, and then will work closely with WildTeam and government staff inside and outside the forest for implementation. The position holder will be inducted by the WildTeam Director, will report to a WildTeam Bangladesh Country Manager, and will be part of the larger in-country team. The position holder will be thirsty for knowledge and will train themselves up by accessing local and international law enforcement expertise.
Preferred attitude, skills, and experience
The most important quality WildTeam is looking for in all its employees is a great attitude and “one team” approach; someone who is highly motivated to save wildlife, takes responsibility for their work, can solve complex problems, has a fearless attitude/is ready for a challenge, and enjoys working with/supporting others in sometimes challenging living/political conditions. WildTeam are also looking for excellent project and people management skills; making this position a good post for someone looking to transition from a corporate job to conservation. In addition, for this position
WildTeam are looking for: a degree in any discipline, a people person, high proficiency in written and spoken English, analytical skills and attention to detail, and someone who is comfortable with technology. Skills in organisational change and training, database or software design/operationalisation, and data analysis/reporting are a bonus. Law enforcement and Bangla language skills would also be a benefit, but are not essential. The applicant will have a number of years work experience, including team management.
