BBC Divisional Finance has a key role to play in enabling the BBC to achieve its strategic objectives by supporting performance management, governance/risk management and decision making. The BBC Wales divisional finance staff will act as finance business partners to the operational managers and BBC Wales staff locally. Their role will be one of stewardship to ensure good governance and financial control over investment and spend in BBC Wales. They provide decision support to achieve the delivery of the BBC’s and BBC Wales’ objectives, working closely with the Centre of Excellence.

Role

Six month opportunity
 
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will lead the Finance service to one or more BBC Wales business units, taking initiatives to improve both the units’ performance and BBC Finance’s service. You will have considerable autonomy, signing off key financial decisions such as budgets and major expenditure projects for your business units. You’ll play an important role in managing the strategic and short term financial performance for a number of departments, by ensuring robust planning, reporting, and financial control procedures are in place and operating effectively. Alongside this, you’ll support and advise senior finance and business colleagues in setting strategy, performance targets and projects, with a focus on driving value and continuous improvement.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will be a high-performing, action orientated individual with the ability to build relationships and credibility at all levels of the organization. Commercially astute and with strong analytical skills, you will have a track record of analysing strategic projects and delivering creative solutions to complex problems. You will be a qualified finance professional (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA or financially-oriented MBA) with significant PQE, and demonstrate a thorough understanding of financial reporting systems. Furthermore, you will have experience of operating at managerial level, contributing to strategy, preparing and presenting to the board, and providing analysis to financial and non financial audiences.
