The Audiences Team brings to life the BBC's core value that ‘Audiences are at the heart of everything we do.’ We provide an in depth understanding of our diverse audiences and their behaviours aiding creative, editorial and strategic decisions made across the organisation.
The Head of Audience Measurement is responsible for devising and implementing a medium and long term measurement strategy for the BBC. They will lead and deliver world class measurement systems and provision of audience measurement data across all media platforms.
This role, leading a team of 8, is a key element of the BBC’s Marketing & Audiences department and reports into the Head of Audiences for the BBC.
The Audience Measurement team are responsible for a number of areas of measurement:
- Measurement of consumption of content on all platforms, through industry currencies (such as BARB and Rajar) and digital and online measurement systems
- Measurement of perceptions of Quality of content on all platform content
- Software and systems development, and contract management
You will need a proven record of achievement in audience measurement and research, specifically measurement or a related discipline, alongside an in depth knowledge of market and audience measurement techniques; particularly television and online measurement.
An in-depth understanding of BARB and/or RAJAR is a prerequisite for this position, as is a true understanding of online measurement and an ability to contribute to the development of the BARB service
A sound understanding of analytical tools and quantitative research methodologies, with an ability to devise new ways of better exploiting research data, identifying insights and presenting data in a stimulating and actionable way are also required qualities.
