The Company
Ecuity Consulting LLP (www.ecuity.com) is a growing consultancy specialising in strategy, regulation, policy and politics affecting the sustainable energy sector in the UK and in the EU.
We work with political and business leaders to develop policies which will contribute to a transition to a low carbon economy. The implication of emerging political and regulatory frameworks for sustainable energy can be vital to commercial propositions. Our clients include energy suppliers, global manufacturers and the cleantech investment community. We also help shape those policy frameworks through tailored influencing campaigns and close co-operation with government.
As the business continues to grow, we are looking to appoint a Consultant with an interest in analysis of energy policy frameworks to work on a mix of new and existing business accounts.
The Role
Reporting to the Partners, the successful applicant will be responsible for design and execution of work programmes on behalf of Ecuity’s commercial clients. This will include detailed analysis, written and oral briefings, correspondence, meetings and events. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a detailed understanding of client commercial drivers alongside sustainable energy policy and political issues impacting upon these objectives. Participation in sales pitches will also be necessary, with occasional public speaking and other personal and company profile raising activities.
Person Requirements:
a) Analytical approach – what sets us apart from our competitors is an eye for a forensic level of detail – often the difference between success and failure for commercial propositions. Whilst an encyclopaedic knowledge of sustainable energy politics is not required, numerical ability and an analytical mindset is necessary.
b) Highly organised and flexible – The nature of our work requires an ability to handle competing priorities/deadlines and the flexibility to cope with occasional anti-social working hours (typically evenings rather than weekends) and regular travel.
c) Minimum 2-3 years experience required in Public Affairs/Management Consulting, Politics or Sustainable Energy.
d) Exceptional writing skills – our clients rely on us to convert complex issues into easily understood analysis, alongside drafting material which will represent the public face of the organisation we are working with.
e) Strong oral communication skills – you will be expected both to lead and present at meetings with Board Level Executives from multi-national organisations, alongside successful politicians and Government officials.
f) Teamwork – whilst the role will not involve any direct reports, you will be expected to work co-operatively with our research team, often leading projects that involve input from colleagues at all levels within the business. A successful team player is therefore required.
What we offer in return:
Aside from a competitive personal reward package, the successful applicant can look forward to a great working environment and fast career development. We provide early exposure to high levels of discussion with both clients and political stakeholders. Expect to become a known policy expert in our industry within a short space of time.
Our office is based in the village of Knowle, just outside Solihull, West Midlands. The office has all good local transport links with trains to Bham International/Dorridge and is one mile from M42 Jct5 by car.
Salary: Competitive + benefits and 23 days annual leave
