BBC Finance has a key role to play in enabling the BBC to achieve its strategic objectives by supporting performance management, governance/risk management and decision making. The finance staff in the divisions will act as business partners to the operational managers and BBC staff locally. Their role will be one of stewardship to ensure good governance and financial control over investment and spend in the Division. They provide decision support to achieve the delivery of the BBC’s and the division’s objectives, working closely with the Finance Centre.

Six month contract opportunity
Reporting to the Finance Director/ Chief Operating Officer or Senior Finance Partner, you will lead the Finance service to one or more business units, taking initiatives to improve both the units’ performance and Finance’s service. You will have considerable autonomy, signing off key financial decisions such as budgets and major expenditure projects for your business units. You’ll manage the strategic and short term financial performance for a number of departments, by ensuring robust planning, reporting, and financial control procedures are in place and operating effectively. Alongside this, you’ll support and advise senior finance and business colleagues in setting strategy, performance targets and projects, with a focus on driving value and continuous improvement.

Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will be a high-performing, action orientated individual with the ability to build relationships and credibility at all levels of the organization. Commercially astute and with strong analytical skills, you will have a track record of analysing strategic projects and delivering creative solutions to complex problems. You will be a qualified finance professional (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA or financially-oriented MBA) with significant PQE, and demonstrate a thorough understanding of financial reporting systems. Furthermore, you will have experience of operating at managerial level, contributing to strategy, preparing and presenting to the board, and providing analysis to financial and non financial audiences.
