PhD Studentships American Studies University of Hull


To celebrate the University's research successes, the University of Hull is offering 20 UK/EU PhD Scholarship, or International Fees Bursaries for candidates with a 1st, 2(i), or equivalent, in the thematic areas of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences:
  • American Culture and the War on Terror post 9/11
  • American Culture in Wartime
  • The Cold War in American history and culture
  • Representations of 20th Century gangs/prison culture in popular culture and literature.
Closing date 11th January 2013. Studentships will start in September 2013

Applicants will be expected to hold a minimum of a UK upper second class Honours degree, or equivalent, in an appropriate discipline.
Each full-time UK/EU PhD Scholarship will include fees at the 'home/EU' student rate and maintenance (£13,590 in 2013/14) for three years, depending  on satisfactory progress.
The International PhD Fee bursaries will cover full tuition fees for full-time overseas students for three years, depending on satisfactory progress, but no living expenses.
Successful applicants will be informed of the award by 29th March 2013.
