Tax Accounting Process Improvement Manager PwC - Chicago, IL


PwC's global Tax Management and Accounting Services (TMAS) practice, which includes the Tax Function Effectiveness (TFE) business unit, is dedicated to helping companies assess the complexities of delivering value and managing risk in their corporate tax functions through tax operations consulting, tax process and technology improvement initiatives, and global outsourcing engagements. Despite growing investments in the corporate tax function, many companies still face significant challenges with accounting for income taxes.
Within TMAS and TFE, PwC's Tax Accounting Performance Improvement (TAPI) practice represents a rapidly growing niche within TMAS. To-date, our TAPI professionals have assisted hundreds of companies of all sizes in improving the effectiveness and performance of their tax accounting functions, from redesigning tax accounting processes and implementing third-party tax provision technology, to designing effective internal controls and delivering customized tax accounting training and education.

Position/Program Requirements: Demonstrates extensive knowledge and/or a proven record of success with performance improvement within the following aspects of accounting and taxation:
-manage billable client engagements using a mixture of local office resources and national resources, where relevant;
-collaborate with leadership, especially national partners and directors, to develop new business development strategies tailored to local and/or regional offices, as well as develop relationships with local office tax partners, directors and managers to establish accountability with new business development strategies;
-develop consistent and standardized methodologies, tools and templates for use on proposals and billable client engagements;
-team with business units to generate cross-selling of tax management and accounting services; and
-engage in and support thought leadership efforts, including speaking at client roundtable events, authoring articles in industry and trade publications, and participating in internal and external client webcasts).
-develop and sustain deep client relationships using networking, negotiation and persuasion skills to identify and sell potential new service opportunities;

Demonstrates extensive knowledge of ASC-740 Accounting for Income Taxes and other related US GAAP literature and publications, including a proven record of success with preparing and/or auditing tax provisions for U.S. multinational corporations in accordance with ASC-740;
Demonstrates extensive knowledge of, and/or a proven record of success performing in roles leveraging, a broad tax background that includes the following: (1) preparing and/or reviewing federal and state income tax returns, (2) assisting and/or advising corporations primarily in the area of Subchapter C of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC), and (3) utilizing third-party tax provision software including, but not limited to: OneSource Tax Provision®, Corptax Provision® and Longview Tax®;
Demonstrates thorough knowledge of, and/or a proven record of success performing in roles utilizing, Six Sigma and LEAN concepts, as well as implementing Sarbanes-Oxley 404 internal controls.
A completed and obtained Master of Science in Taxation degree is preferred.

Demonstrates extensive experience as a team leader, emphasizing the following: generating a vision; establishing direction and motivating members; creating an atmosphere of trust; leveraging diverse views; encouraging improvement and innovation; supervising teams to create an atmosphere of trust; seeking diverse views to encourage improvement and innovation; participating in various staff recruitment and retention activities; and coaching staff including providing timely meaningful written and verbal feedback

A completed Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in a business related field and a current, active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential.
