Role

You’ll play a leading role in the development of digital products and services for international audiences, with a particular emphasis on product innovation, newsroom integration in New Broadcasting House (NBH), and preparations for WS transfer to the Licence Fee in 2014. You’ll be responsible for the management of World Service’s relationship with Future Media News and Knowledge, with particular emphasis on the delivery of technical, design and distribution services commissioned via the service agreement. With responsibility for the WS capital budget for digital product development, you’ll also advise WS Senior Management on technical strategy, industry trends and editorial best practice.

Requirements

You’ll have considerable editorial experience of online journalism, across web, mobile and emerging platforms such as IPTV. A firm grasp of digital product development, ideally including Agile methodology, and latest trends in online media are essential to this role as is an understanding of social media and search engine optimisation. With proven experience of managing complex multilingual, multiplatform projects you’ll need experience of liaising on projects with senior managers from a range of production areas across the BBC. You’ll also have excellent presentation and communication skills coupled with an understanding of World Service multiplatform output, especially radio, and output in multiple languages other than English.
