The Regional Finance Leader is responsible for the complete accounting and financial aspects of the business, directly supervising the local finance teams as well as preparing the management reports, reviewing company accounts and ensuring compliance in company secretarial matters.
The Regional Finance Leader must possess a strong commercial understanding of the business, provide an immediate and accurate financial performance assessment of the region, and provide valuable and appropriate support to the Regional Leader in the achievement of the Region objectives and business plans.
The Regional Finance Leader will also be actively involved in business development opportunities by providing guidance to the operations and transaction teams.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support the Regional Leader in developing the company's business in Asia and financial strategy including planning, monitoring, and reporting results, as well as the management and development of policies, systems, processes and personnel involved.
- Oversee the financial responsibilities for regulatory and legal compliance, including taxation (VAT, corporation tax, employee taxes etc), dividends, statutory annual reports and accounts of the various operations.
- Contribute to the strategic planning and development of the Region, including supporting corporate departments with financial structure planning, tax planning and other finance related matters.
- Responsible for the Region specific legal aspects, administration, company insurance, contracts and agreements, and liaising with the relevant corporate support functions on these matters.
- Produce the monthly management accounts and associated reports accurately and on time, including relevant commentaries, answers to queries etc.
- Review and produce regular, accurate and reliable forecasts for the Region.
- Coordinate and control the company’s annual budget process, and deliver it in accordance with corporate requirements.
- Manage the company’s finance department budget and other finance related costs effectively.
- Manage regional finance team.
- Providing and interpreting financial information for different locations in the region and assist in the establishment of the training centers in different locations as required in the region.
- Business modelling and forecasting.
- Monitoring performance and efficiency.
- Analysing change and conducting risk assessment.
- Participating in strategic planning, and formulating long-term business plans.
- Researching and reporting on factors influencing business performance.
- Developing complex finance models.
- Assessing the financial implications of new or existing ventures.
- Conducting reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities.
- Preparing accounts and reconciling balance sheets.
- Overseeing budgetary control.
- Managing working capital effectively, particularly Accounts Receivable and keeping overdue accounts and bad debts to minimum levels.
- Leading, or working on, projects.
- Liaising with other members of the team and across the business.
- Managing and motivating a small team of staff, including performance reviews.
- Working and communicating effectively with the management team of the training centre to deliver the required business performance.
- Supporting and managing both management and staff through regular change processes.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Bachelor or Post Graduate degree in finance or accounting with Accounting recognized designation.
- Ten to fifteen years of relevant experience with a demonstrated track record and past experience in leading regional finance organization as controller and/or Director.
- Strong Financial reporting.
- Strong budgeting experience.
- Proven experience in multinational company and demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment.
- Additional education may be substituted for some experience. Ability to learn the use of financial software applications (Oracle), databases, spreadsheets, and/or word processing required.
- Travel requirements mostly limited to Asia and on an ad hoc basis.
- Fluent in English, Mandarin would be an asset.
- The position will be located at the Kuala Lumpur Training Centre.
