Facilitator “Harvest Academy” (Volunteer)


Based in Oxfam Novib office, The Hague
Volunteer position | 3 months full time, or six months to one year part-time
Oxfam Novib in conjunction with Fairfood International is looking for a volunteer who is an avid networker and can foster group brainstorming among colleagues in order to share knowledge and exchange ideas on   sustainable agricultural food chains.
Purpose of the position
Within the last 5-10 years in the several countries where Oxfam Novib is stationed including the headquarters in The Hague, Oxfam Novib has carried out researches about agri-food chains which plays a vital role in local markets and international trade. Our aim has always been to create food security and income security, in addition to maintaining land rights, fair employment, and fair prices. In Oxfam Novib’s current long-range plan, issues like responsible investment and sustainable trade are of great priority to us. Hence, the need to actively combine experiences in a Community of Practice on sustainable value chains.  In collaboration with our alliance partner Fairfood International; we intend to further develop the concept into a “Harvest Academy”. This will require additional external fundraising, which will entail a form of public-private partnership with companies or research institutes who would also want to invest. Our partner Fairfood International who will be assisting in this project also has an extensive experience in research and dialogues with companies in the food sector.
Responsibilities
The facilitator we are looking for will be charged with the responsibility of coming up with topics, which are relevant and interesting for exchange and for our learning agenda. He / she will moderate some discussions which is geared towards strengthening the capacity of fellow colleagues for future programs. On certain issues, the facilitator’s experience will be relevant in the sense that it can help strengthen our relationship with our potential external partners which will in turn help in fundraising. The facilitator will also be expected to explore such potential partnerships and help develop proposals for fundraising. He/she will work together with the private sector coordinator and program manager of the topic “Economic Justice”.
Your Qualities
- Experience in moderating an online community, as well as content   coordinator in some technical aspects.
- Experience in (sustainable) international or local chains of agricultural products, such as commercial experience as a buyer or marketer or relevant knowledge of sustainability issues.
- Experience with knowledge management;
- Experience working in international networks
- Experience in developing project proposals for external funding;
What we offer
