The role if open to a registered nurse with recent experience in an occupational health environment.
This is an exciting opportunity to join BAHS delivering occupational health services throughout BA
 
As part of the BAHS multi-specialist team, Occupational Health Practice Nurses (OHPNs) provide specialist advice and assistance to BA staff on fitness for work and the prevention of work-related ill health in ground, air and overseas environments.
 
OHPNs work mainly from the Waterside Occupational Health Centre and provide many specialist core occupational health activities particularly related to screening assessments and health advice.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Undertakes statutory/non-statutory health assessments using BAHS policies, procedures and guidelines, interprets results and decides appropriate action
  • Provides work related immunisations and travel health advice using BAHS guidelines
  • Advises BA staff on multiple health and aviation related issues
  • Works with other BAHS health professionals on work-related issues, health promotion and workplace visits
  • Provides advice to employees following accidents and/or sudden illness in the workplace
  • Assists and supports BA managers and staff to comply with arrangements for first aid in BA
  • Undertakes projects in association with other BAHS professionals to support the needs of the business
  • Provides services for BAHS medical emergency response

Essential Qualifications
  • NMC Registered Nurse with both current nursing and occupational health experience
Experience
  • Linking work process and environments to fitness and placement standards
  • Using BA and BAHS policies, procedures and processes
  • Robust decision making
  • Practical application of IT systems – LotusNotes, Windows, Microsoft Office, medical record systems.
Expertise
  • Understanding of occupational health and safety issues and their relationship to business
