The Organisation
QGC is a leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on supplying cleaner hydrocarbon energy to growing domestic and international markets.

We are establishing Queensland Curtis LNG, a world-first project to turn reserves of natural coal seam gas in the Surat and Bowen basins in Queensland into liquefied natural gas (LNG) – a carbon efficient fuel.

QGC, which is wholly owned by the British energy company BG Group, employs more than 4,300 staff and contractors. 
Position Summary
The Project Engineer will support the Bowen Development Manager to ensure integration of the delivery of all the surface facilities in within the Bowen Core area to Operations, ensuring that HSSE, quality, schedule and operability and compliance requirements are met.

Critical to success is facilitating effective interface and coordination between subsurface, land access, community relations, social performance, environment, water solutions, cultural heritage, procurement, well engineering and production operations.

The role requires the person to work closely with the above departments to ensure all approvals and stakeholder requirements are taken into account in the planning and execution of work.

The Project Engineer role provides an excellent opportunity for someone who wants career exposure to an involvement in project management in a complex stakeholder environment.
Key Accountabilities
The role is focused on development and appraisal activities within Bowen Core area encompassing ATP 806, 811, 758 and 831.

Position Specific• Constantly monitor and verify progress against the integrated plan and highlighted areas that are delayed. Identify opportunities to improve the schedule by assessing critical interfaces between the delivery teams and functions.
• Updates project schedule accordingly notifying appropriate stake holders.
• Proactively identify project shortcomings and risks associated with project interfaces and develop robust solutions and action plans. Where appropriate develop interface agreements to confirm the scope split and deliverable responsibility across the interface.
• Assists in coordinating and implementing the water management strategy for Bowen integrated operations.
• Assists Production Engineer in scoping up the procurement requirements for the operations.
• Assist in the implementation and running of the Venture Management Tool for Bowen Core area activities in line with the BG Way.
• Works closely with the Production Operations, Subsurface and Well Engineering teams to prioritise work packages as they are released to field.
• Identify gaps in delivery team responsibility and determine the appropriate ownership.
• As necessary, maintain the stage plan consistent with changes in the project organisation and progress.
• Ensure project lessons learned from Phase I and II are fed back within the team for the benefit of future work.

Stimulation Risk Assessment (SRA) & Compliance

• Develop and facilitate an integrated and efficient SRA process that delivers SRAs as required by the Bowen Basin CSG stimulation program, ensures environmental protection and addresses regulatory requirements for stimulation activities
• Coordinate input into the SRA process from all stakeholders (E.g. Environment, Well Engineering, Production Technology, Geology, Petrophysics and Groundwater)
• Prepare template and process flow documents for SRA and update as required to address regulatory requirements and stakeholder feedback
• Liaison with stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (eg interfacing with Water Solutions for bore baseline programs; liaising with Environment on compliance requirements and environmental programs related to stimulation (eg chemicals assessment updates, wellhead monitoring and EA amendments)
• Liaison with consultants in regard to specialist studies associated with compliance (eg hydrogeology, chemicals assessment, UWIR, ecotoxicity assessment)

People Management• Contribute to peer assists and functional reviews according to the BG way to add value and provide assurance
• The contractor must be able to integrate multi-disciplinary inputs and perspectives.
• The contractor must adhere to the annual HR cycle and meet deadlines within the appropriate timeframes

Health Safety Security and Environment (HSSE)• Every individual has a duty to both themselves and those around them to ensure that safe practice is adhered to at all times. In addition to any specific accountabilities for HSSE, all managers are accountable for HSSE within their area of the Business and are responsible for ensuring that their team adopt exemplary HSSE behaviours
• All QGC employees must adhere to the Business Principles at all times under Conduct, Our People, Society and HSSE and to participate in relevant training
• Works with the Bowen Site Safety Manager to continually improve safety aspects relating to the approvals process.
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience Required
• Experience of working in teams to deliver coal seam gas wells.
• Experience in framing scopes of work, defining and then executing them.
• Conversant in the risk assessment process and formally documenting the assessment.
• Proven experience in understanding the risks and uncertainties associated with Well Stimulation techniques.
• Experience of the contract and procurement process within a large organisation.
• Experience in coordinating, managing and influencing multi-disciplined teams.

Knowledge, Languages, Skills and Attributes
• Educated to first degree, or equivalent, in a science or engineering discipline
• Chartered member of a relevant engineering/science or project management institution (preferred)
• Understanding of Federal and State legislation effecting Exploration and Appraisal activities.
• Excellent communications skills, both written and oral, with the ability to challenge others in a constructive manner and negotiate with internal peers to influence decisions or ways of working
• Knowledge of Coal Seam Gas Production Operations
• Excellent listening skills and problem solving ability
• Excellent multi-tasking skills and ability to prioritize competing daily issues
• Ability to work with changing priorities across a broad set of goals and objectives
• Leadership attributes suitable for running a small team
• Must be a self-starter and ability to use initiative
• Able to establish project execution strategies and plans
Strong presentation skills with the ability to explain complex information to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences
