Consultancy for Cost of Diet Study-Food Security Livelihood


Objective of consultancy
The main objective of this consultancy is to lead the practical implementation of the cost of diet method in two livelihood zones in the Sindh Province of Pakistan. This includes training a team of field workers to collect, analyse and interpret data generated from market surveys, interviews and focus group discussion using the Cost of the Diet software. As well as this, the consultant is also expected to set up a seasonal data collection system for the SCUK team in Pakistan to use.
The specific objectives are as follows:
 To train the Save the Children (SC) and Action Against Hunger (ACF) team in Islamabad in the Cost of Diet methodology and data collection
 To provide distance support to field teams during data collection
 To train participants in checking data quality and data entry and analysis using the CoD software. Selected participants will also need to be trained in how to interpret the results and summarise them in the prepared Microsoft Excel spread sheets.
 To present and discuss the findings with the SC and ACF team in Pakistan and incorporate comments and inputs from the team
 To produce a final report that can be used for programme and advocacy purposes with relevant models that can feed into recommendations/guidance for future programming
 To set up seasonal data collection
