Position Summary
The Jackdaw Commissioning Lead will be responsible for initially defining the commissioning scope for the Jackdaw Project during the pre-sanction SELECT and DEFINE stages; preparing detailed commissioning requirements and during the EXECUTE stage working with the Detailed Design Contractor prior to successful pre- commissioning of the Jackdaw surface facilities followed by handover to Jackdaw operations team for start up. The role is responsible for managing delivery from contractors in a manner that is aligned with a developed commissioning strategy. The role will implement a completion management process and provide regular update reports to the Project Management Team.
Key Accountabilities
  • Every individual has a duty to both themselves and those around them to ensure that safe practice is adhered to at all times. In addition to any specific accountabilities for HSSE, all Jackdaw staff are accountable for HSSE within their area of the business and are responsible for ensuring that their team adopt exemplary HSSE behaviours.
  • Responsible for delivery of commissioning for each aspect of the project in line with an agreed Commissioning Strategy.
  • Accountable for the planning and execution of commissioning scope and managing the interfaces to ensure a seamless commissioning phase.
  • Responsible for overseeing and managing the development and execution work of contractors involved in Commissioning.
  • Responsible (where Operations staff are made available) for the integration of Operations Readiness persons into the project to ensure all aspects of the ORA process are implemented.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining an integrated commissioning plan and preparation of project based progress reports.
  • Responsible for development of a system completion hierarchy, set-up and maintenance of a Completion Management process.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the basis of acceptance for each system, item of equipment and facility are agreed and documented.
  • Responsible for ensuring commissioning risks are identified, quantified and mitigated where necessary
  • Responsible for ensuring that all safety systems are tested to meet the requirements of the relevant performance standards.
  • Responsible for ensuring a safe transition of work through construction completion to start-up of the facilities.
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience Needed:
  • Significant experience at Commissioning Lead level
  • Demonstrated experience leading the output of major EPC contractors
  • Demonstrated Strengths in leading site execution
  • Ability to develop safe systems of work
  • An understanding of managing interfaces
  • Had successful interaction with a range of stakeholders
  • Able to apply appropriate technical standards
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of completion systems
  • Good understanding of contractual terminology and project processes
  • Able to apply HSSE principles across all technical and execution activities
Knowledge, Languages,Skills and Attributes:
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Extensive projects experience at Commissioning Lead level - having worked on multiple projects
  • Strong leadership skills particularly in influencing and motivational skills
  • Good team player with a proactive and flexible attitude
  • Good communicator, able to challenge others in a constructive manner
  • Able to network with a range of stakeholders
  • Able to plan and organize work effectively, with good decision making skills
  • Able to address of facilitate change
