Sr. Manager - Quality Operations

DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS:

Position Overview:
This role is primarily responsible for de-risking manufacturing processes from Food Safety and Quality risks at the bottling plants in the BU to ensure conformance to Quality systems / standards as per the KORE (Coca Cola Operating Requirements) requirements.
Also supports introduction of new and reformulated products into the market place by leading and project managing all activities related to scale up trials in the manufacturing facilities, addressing foods safety and quality concerns and providing new product approvals to facilitate timely launch to the market.


JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION : ESSENTIAL:  B. Tech / M.Sc. Food Science or Technology
MINIMUM RELEVANT EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 10+ years
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS (IF ANY) : English & Hindi     
INTERNAL CUSTOMERS: Technical Services, R&D, Marketing, PAC, Legal, EASC Lab -- Pune
EXTERNAL CUSTOMERS: Bottling Organization, 3rd party audit agencies, 3rd party accredited labs
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:  40 - 50 %
                                                   

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS / DEVELOPMENTAL EXPERIENCES
1.To plan and conduct the audits across the manufacturing facilities in the BU to confirm the effective implementation of Quality compliance standards as per the KORE requirements and ensure adequate management information systems (MIS) communication to relevant stakeholders both internal and external are in place
2.Partner with the bottling organization and facilitate timely approvals for the new lines / new technologies / new processes in line with KORE requirements in the field
3.Work with the bottling plants in developing effective corrective & preventive action plans and ensure implementation to close out on the GAO Quality compliance audit findings.  Update the GAO audit finding closure status with the relevant stakeholders
4.Provide training and support to the bottling plants in implementation of the KORE requirements, HACCP, 7 QC tools, implementation of traceability systems in the field & microbiological tesitng
5.Initiate discussions with respective functions for understanding product formulation & liaise with R&D to understand product type and function (sensitive/energy/health drinks etc.) and work on process approvals and prepare master mixing instructions (MMI)
6.Liaise with BU SRA/R&D to understand local food laws and regulatory requirement for ingredients, product & package
7.Visit facilities manufacturing similar products within the Group to understand the process , product and package requirements to facilitate product commercialization
8.Develop protocols and provide directions to evaluate all new processes / technologies  and ensure that all new process or technology / process equipment continue to deliver products within Company specifications
9.Determine new product / package shelf life post evaluating the shelf stability and assign best before dates for all packages in the BU
10.Prepare Quality Manuals for each product/package incorporating all the KORE requirements and release to manufacturing facilities to enable them to deliver consistent product quality and services
11.Co-ordinate with BU QA & BU Technical & Legal to start commercial production after successful production line qualification trial.  Provide training material and implement in plant training for existing and new associates periodically
12.Conduct transport worthiness trials and determine the minimum transportation, handling and storage conditions for each new product / package category in consultation with R&D, BU Packaging and communicate to the bottling facilities.

Technical Skills
1.Coca - Cola Operating Requirements (KORE) is preferred
2.Hands on experience in implementing food safety management systems (FSSC 22000) & Quality Management System ( ISO 9001).  To be an certified lead auditor in both of these systems
3.Quality Tools : Exposure to  " 7 Quality Control Tools" / six sigma / 5 "S"
4.Auditing Skills
5.Understands the operational fundamentals of our Bottling System

JOB COMPLEXITIES1.Create tactics in achieving the overall plans & objectives of the technical department with respect to compliance to KORE requirements in BU & at bottling plants
2.Understand the dynamics of bottler operations including distribution systems
3.Influence bottler senior management through robust engagement process in pursuing BU goals in achieving 100% compliance on KORE requirements
4.Influence & engage RTQMs / Plant QA Managers in order to establish the accountability / responsibility in adhering to KORE requirements
5.Customer Contacts: # of bottlers : Total 63 bottling plants covering 18 bottlers in the BU
6.Work requires the analysis of information where the decision/action taken would establish precedent or major change to current operations (for example, original research in a specific discipline and/or the development of financial and operating plans for large and complex organizational components).
