Job Title: COUNTRY DIRECTOR Organization: DEWORM THE WORLD INITIATIVE Reporting to: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR- DtWI AND CHAIRMAN- ACTION FOUNDATION FOR SOCIAL SERVICES Location: BANGALORE OR DELHI
Introduction: DtWI supports the scale-up of school-based deworming programs worldwide to improve children’s health, education, and long-term development. School-based deworming is proven to be an extremely effective intervention with tangible health, education and productivity benefits, and is one of the most cost-effective methods of increasing overall school attendance and participation. DtWI works directly with ministries of education and health, in cooperation with corporate and development partners, to help launch, strengthen and sustain school-based deworming programs. To date, DtWI’s technical support has enabled the treatment of over 43 million children across 27 countries. DtWI is operated in partnership with Innovations for Poverty Action and Action Foundation for Social Services (AFSS). AFSS, a Section 25 company headquartered in Bangalore with the objective of bringing well-researched social interventions to scale, leads DtWI operations in India.
DtWI has been engaged in India since 2009, beginning with the state of Andhra Pradesh. Currently, DtWI supports departments of education and health in Bihar, Delhi and Rajasthan for the implementation of statewide deworming programs, and is planning for rapid expansion over the next years.

Reason for Hire:
DtWI is seeking a Country Director to join the success of their young, fast-paced initiative and lead growth in India at this critical stage. The Country Director will lead DtWI teams and activities in India, with a specific focus on partner development and relations, fundraising, strategic growth plans, and business systems.

• Enthusiastic to lead and grow the core work of DtWI in India. • Dedicated to promoting a team environment that is evidence-driven, innovative and oriented to deliver the highest quality work. • Highly self-motivated and willing to be involved in all levels of work, with a “do what it takes” attitude. • Eager to be part of a fast-paced, growing program and nimble team with a start-up atmosphere. • Sense of humor.
Must Haves: • A Post Graduate with a minimum of 12+ years work experience, with related responsibilities in a private, public or nonprofit context. • Significant experience of identifying and securing funding, and leading and growing an organization through fundraising from a variety of different stakeholders including institutions, corporate and governments. • Proven ability in straddling multiple day to day roles that include timely project delivery, stakeholder relationship management, quality assurance, team building and mentorship, business development, brand visibility and thought leadership. • Outstanding writing and oral communication, and inter-personal skills, with a demonstrated ability to network and engage various stakeholders.
Highly desirable • Experience working in partnership with government officials and/or high-level policymakers. • Past experience driving a start-up organization.
