As part of the growing portfolio of work that we undertake around the world, we are seeking to identify a suitably qualified Financial Management Specialist who would be interested in a potential four year consultancy assignment to contribute to a recovery programme for Syria. The role will be based in Turkey but may require travel to Syria when the security situation allows.
In particular we are looking for individuals with the following experience:

The role will be based in Turkey but may require travel to Syria when the security situation allows.
In particular we are looking for individuals with the following experience:
- Expert with an international professional background obtained in long-term assignments outside his country and region of origin
- Good knowledge of financial management rules and procedures of at least one major donor, such as The Worldbank, the UN or KfW, including anti-money laundering and terrorism financing standards of OECD Financial Action Task Force (FATF) for financial institutions and EU- and UN-embargo rules on Syria
- Knowledge and experience in budgeting
- At least 5 years of experience as Senior Financial Officer of major donor-financed emergency aid and/or development operations in developing countries
- At least 5 years of experience in implementing the financial management and reporting mechanisms in a major donor-financed emergency aid and/or development operation in a developing country
- Ability and preparedness to share knowledge with and train personnel in financial management procedures and techniques
- Ability and readiness to work and live in an off-capital environment on the Turkish-Syrian border
- Fluency in spoken and written English
Additional advantages:
- Knowledge of funding mechanisms, procedures and reporting requirements of major donor institutions
- Knowledge of the social, political and cultural context of Syria
- Experience in working in Syria and/or neighbouring countries
- Working knowledge of Arabic
