Assistant Construction Manager

The Aga Khan University is looking for a qualified and skilled individual for the position of Assistant Construction Manager. This is a multi-year project based position.

Responsibilities

The incumbent will be responsible for: Technical reviews of Architectural and Engineering Designs, Specifications, BOQ & Estimates to ensure constructability of assigned projects to highest quality standards. Monitor projects schedules and ensure on time completion through effective planning and actions. Prepare construction execution plan in coordination with users, infection control, safety and security and other stakeholders keeping in view of resource requirements and project schedule as well as organization charts with the inputs from all stake holders. Coordinate installation of engineering services required for the hospital projects such as HVAC, electrical, medical gases, IT networking etc with operational teams to ensure that construction work progresses without disturbing the operations of the hospital. Arrange in-house or external resources required for execution of projects and ensure that all contracts are timely placed. Monitoring all procurements from requisitioning, ordering and delivery of equipment and material for timely incorporation into the works. Control of project cost and ensure completion within budget. Also responsible for verification of contractors bills and variation orders etc for payments. Arrange to timely rectify defects identified if any by quality inspectors and ensure smooth handover of projects to operational teams and users.

Requirements

​Engineering Degree in Civil / Electrical / Mechanical or related field. 6 years of related experience including 2 years as team lead. Should have good knowledge of complex building construction such as hospitals. Proficient in use of computer packages. Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills. Be a team player with strong leadership skills.
