Consultant will serve as the Psychiatrist on the International Medical Corps’s Mental Health Hospital (MHH) Project in Afghanistan

Task Description: Consultant will serve as the Psychiatrist on the International Medical Corps’s Mental Health Hospital (MHH) Project in Afghanistan. The Consultant will conduct need assessment and provide training for 22 psychiatrists working in Mental Health Hospital Kabul in consultation with Mental Health Hospital Director, IMC technical team and under the guidance of IMC country director and project manager.Consultant is based in Kabul Mental Health Hospital and will conduct Consultant’s work in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Specifically, Consultant will complete the following tasks: 1. Conduct a general training need assessment 2. Develop a complete training curriculum on the following topics (below) 3. Provide training on the following topics a. Multi-Disciplinary work (MDT) b. Supervision training and supervision checklist c. Full forensic assessment d. Risk assessment and risk management e. Child specific disorders: assessment and treatment of MR, ADHD, PDD and etc f. Pharmacology of psychiatric medication g. physical examination h. Structured clinical interviews i. Geriatric psychiatry (assessment and management) j. Personality disorders; assessment and management 4. Provide technical support to trainees regarding client outcome measurements 5. Submit final training report which includes results (pre-posttests as well as on the job supervision checklists), training feedback and recommendations

Required: 1. Graduated from a recognized psychiatry training program 2. A psychiatrist with forensic education and three years’ experience 3. With advance knowledge in child psychiatry 4. Experience with NGO 5. Excellent knowledge and skills of writing report 6. Prior experience of working through translator
Desirable; 1. International experience in working with low resource countries is desirable. 2. Familiar with Afghan context
