Head of Project "Waste Water Management" in Pyongyang, North Korea
The post is to be filled as from February 2013 and is initially scheduled to end on 31 January 2016.
In North Korea, Welthungerhilfe will be implementing a project for the rehabilitation of urban drinking water facilities and the consolidation of waste water facilities in the small cities of Kujang, North Pyong'an Province, and Anbyon, Kangwon Province. The post is based in the capital city of Pyongyang, with extensive travel into the project areas. The living and working conditions are difficult and require the post holder to show adaptability.
Objectives and responsibilities of the position
The Head of Project is responsible for implementing Welthungerhilfe projects in the project region in accordance with the framework specified as regards content, organisation, time schedules and finance.
Your most important duties are as follows:
• Technical and conceptual implementation and management of project • Close collaboration with technical agencies at the national and local level • Conceptual further development of the project • Regular reporting to the country office and head office • Ensure orderly financial and material expenses planning
• Responsibility for expatriate and national project staff, and in particular responsibility for compliance with local security regulations Your qualifications will include: • A university or polytechnic degree in civil engineering/hydrology or similar, or several years of project-relevant professional experience • Several years' project and management experience in the carrying out of co-financed projects of international (aid) agencies - preferably in the region • Coordination and organisational skills - even under difficult local conditions • Ability to communicate and work in a team • Very good command of both written and spoken English We offer you the opportunity of working in an extremely committed team, and a range of duties involving a high degree of responsibility.
