Program Description:
Djibouti’s Projet AIDE aims to improve education systems and policies by working with and through the Ministry of Education and its related structures including national teacher training college to improve the quality of primary education in Djibouti. The overall goal of the Kenya Teacher Education and Professional Development (TEPD) Program Phase II is to improve the practices and competencies of teachers in Kenya. TEPD will build stronger links between the pre-service and in-service systems of teacher education in Kenya, working initially in North Eastern and Coast Provinces.
Mali’s Programme d’Appui a la Décentralisation/Déconcentration-Participation Communautaire (PRADDE-PC ) is intended to assist the GRM in realizing its vision of a decentralized system that provides quality education for all Malian children.
Position Description:
Reporting directly to the Project Manager/Director the Program Assistant will perform and provide administrative, programmatic and logistical support duties. Duties include preparing documents and reports, the use of office technology, compiling records, organizing and maintaining files, posting information, greeting/referring/assisting others, mail distribution, and photocopying. Collects and verifies data, reconciles and processes expense reports and per diem costs. Coordinates and maintains records management. The Program Associate will coordinate the administrative aspects of travel and transportation, procurement, and meetings. Position to be filled immediately.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assists program staff with requests from regional and country offices and other staff members in the field.
- Coordinates technical visits, travel authorizations, expense reports, and contract agreements to support implementation of country programs.
- Processes invoices to accounting for payments.
- Performs day-to–day routines independently with own initiative.
- Prepares documents, reports and briefing materials for consultants, staff and clients.
- Coordinates division of workload among other administrative/support staff.
- Assists in the orientation/training of new administrative/support staff.
- Performs entry level technical program related tasks.
- Ensures documentation and reports are tracked regularly and adhere to country and regional standards.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or its international equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience in a non- governmental organization (NGO) preferred.
- Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures with program planning and areas of education.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and attention to detail skills.
- Proficient computer skills with Microsoft office products.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data, identify errors and process accounting documents.
- Works on problems that are routine in nature and are standard procedures and policies.
- Works independently and within a team on special non-recurring and ongoing projects/programs
