Operations Manager , Huanchaco - Trujillo


Otra Cosa Network (OCN) is a Peruvian non-profit NGO and UK Registered Charity (No.1133680) that offers a wide variety of affordable and satisfying volunteering opportunities to well-motivated volunteers from around the world.
OCN needs a new Operations Manager to run the organization’s operations in Peru, under direction from the UK-based Directors. We are in search of an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about international volunteering and community development. The new Manager needs to take on a wide range of responsibilities and manage the small local team in line with the organisation’s values, strategic goals and approach to community development.
Responsibilities include managing all aspects of looking after our volunteers from recruitment & selection, making pre-arrival arrangements, greeting and inductions on arrival, ensuring the welfare of all volunteers from arrival to departure, offering general/emergency assistance, monitoring and analysing volunteer feedback to support continuous improvement. Other aspects of the role include project management – liaising with our project partners; overseeing our volunteer house; liaising with accommodation partners; developing, managing and monitoring our own OCN projects; fundraising; on-line marketing activities and some administration tasks such as simple book-keeping and management information reports.
We are looking for an exceptional candidate who is both a natural leader and has some manage-ment experience to head up the OCN team and deliver our objectives to grow & develop. This is a rare opportunity to influence, shape and support the development of a small but growing NGO. Some knowledge of NGO management is required as is strong leadership experience or potential.
As Operations Manager you would be responsible for overall representation, leadership and man-agement of OCN in Peru. You will develop, implement and deliver appropriate actions to achieve positive outcomes in terms of life changing opportunities for the Peruvian children & adults we work with and the volunteers and interns who work for us. You will work under the guidance of the UK Directors and work with our project partner organizations, ensuring our volunteers are happy & well looked after and are working effectively to achieve results at our partner projects. You will also have the ability to build partnerships with local government and private sector projects, identifying opportunities to leverage resources to develop OCN’s scale & impact.
The successful candidate will be a good communicator, effective manager, and a sound administra-tor who can pro actively find solutions to challenging tasks in a multi-cultural environment, working with local partners in Peru and volunteers from around the world. You will be able to demonstrate good decision making and analytical skills, be naturally good at working with people, be a sound administrator, and understand culture and society in Peru and the International Volunteer Community. Experience of working with multi-partner projects would be an advantage, along with proven management and leadership experience. A degree or post-graduate qualification is essential. A qualification in an international development-related subject would be an advantage.
