DepartmentThe main responsibility of the Operations Department is to implement various activities to provide services for Fairfood. The department is directed and managed by the Director Operations, who is responsible for the coordination, realisation and actual implementation of these services and the total further professionalization of the organisation. The department is responsible for four functions: HR, Quality Assurance, ICT and Finance. In addition, legal support, facility management and coordination of the internal communication are part of the departmental responsibilities.
Function
As Legal Assistant, you will assist the Director Operations in a diverse range of legal matters and will be actively considering Fairfood’s legal position and responsibilities. You will research and advise on legal matters that relate to Fairfood. Further, you will communicate with external parties in relation to these legal matters under the direct supervision of the Director Operations and you will report relevant internal parties on your research or legal opinion. Finally, you will be overseeing an adequate execution of the tasks as determined by the Director Operations.

You have either obtained or are in your final year of completing your master’s degree in law. A specialization in corporate law is preferred. You have an ambition to develop yourself further in the legal subject area. You have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Basic understanding of the Dutch language is a requirement. You are able to take initiative and have a proactive attitude towards assigned tasks. You are capable of working both independently and within a team. Obviously, you have an affinity with Fairfood’s objectives.

What do we offer?This is an unpaid position suitable as an internship to obtain work experience both in this particular field and at an NGO. We will reimburse your travel expenses and provide lunch for the days you work. We offer a versatile position within a young international organisation. We value our employees and fully recognise that flexibility in working hours might be important for you. To help us achieve our work goals, we prefer you to work for a minimum of 16 hours a week over a minimum of 3 months (preferably even longer, i.e. 6 months).
