Finance Director, Glion Institute of Higher Education (London)


Reports to: Director General, Glion Institute of Higher Education (London) & Finance Director for Laureate Swiss Hospitality
Location: London, UK
Appointment: Full-time; hours of work as necessary to fulfil duties and responsibilities; 6 month probationary period

Purpose
Laureate Education is opening up a branch campus of its Swiss based Glion Institute of Higher Education (GIHE). The campus will be located at the University of Roehampton (UoR) in South West London and will be fully operational by August 2013. The University of Roehampton will provide the majority of "back-office" type services (including finance). The Finance Director postholder will ensure that service is delivered in an efficient and effective manner; the role will therefore need to be very focused on managing relationships, service levels and contracts. The Finance Director will provide value-added analytical and planning insights into the School's financial performances, helping Management take informed decisions to drive the business.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work effectively with the UoR Finance team to ensure the delivery of efficient and effective finance support services to GIHE London (consistent with the contract between the two parties).
  • Production of monthly financial management report, which measures performance against plan and provides latest forecast and identifies, analyses and comments upon variances.
  • In close relationship with campus operations and department heads, leads the production and analysis of forecasts for enrolment, revenue, costs, cash-flow, CAPEX and other business metrics.
  • Conduct detailed profitability or any other relevant analysis across GIHE London in order to implement best practices.
  • Play a key role in the long range plan and annual budget cycles within the school.
  • Provide line management and leadership to all finance function staff employed by GIHE London.
  • Other duties as agreed by the Director General, GIHE (London)
Education and Professional Qualifications
  • University degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics equivalent
  • Professional Finance Qualification
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years' successful experience in Finance Planning & Analysis, business analysis or financial control, ideally within a large US corporate environment.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Excellent computer skills (Excel and Powerpoint)
  • Good knowledge of accounting and consolidation systems (e.g. Oracle, SAP, Hyperion).
  • Good Knowledge of US GAAP. Knowledge of UK Statutory requirements desirable.
