The Organisation
QGC is a leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on supplying cleaner hydrocarbon energy to growing domestic and international markets.
We are establishing Queensland Curtis LNG, a world-first project to turn reserves of natural coal seam gas in the Surat and Bowen basins in Queensland into liquefied natural gas (LNG) – a carbon efficient fuel. Position Summary
The purpose of the role is to manage and oversee all aspects of drilling and lease constructions works ensuring a focus on safety, environmental and land management requirements. Objectives for the role are achieved through coordinating and managing the works of drilling staff and contractors.

Key Accountabilities
Position Specific• Accountable for ensuring that all drilling, operations performed in compliance with the approved QGC Project, BG Policies and BG Well Engineering Minimum Standards (WEMS). These include, but are not limited to, directives/policy on business ethics, security, health, safety and the environment.
• Ensure a ‘safety first’ approach to all drilling and field work activities • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and legislative and regulatory requirements • Demonstrate a commitment to health and safety through participation l informal safety discussions, workplace visits and hazard inspections • Promote a culture where all personnel take ownership their own safety and the safety of their team members • Ensure contractor work practices are in line with QGC requirements • Liaise with safety superintendent to prepare safety procedures to cover common activities on drilling and construction sites • Oversee activities on coring and surface casing operations to ensure rigs and crews have safe work practices • Ensure staff and contractors have required training and tools to perform their tasks safety • Ensure accidents/near misses are investigated and appropriate action taken • Manage and oversee all aspects of drilling and associated field works • Plan the implementation of drilling at the direction of the Wells Manager Exploration • Oversee construction and maintenance of access and drilling leases including environmental and safety requirements • Ensure compliance with cultural heritage requirements • Coordinate staff and contractors in the scope of work to be performed Prepare field emergency plans in the event of prolonged wet weather or natural disaster • Carry out field operations as required in relation to site construction, rehabilitation and land access • Oversee/Shadow NOJV work by spending 20% of time for it. • Manage a team to achieve drilling plans and objectives • Establish staff objectives and monitor and manage performance on a regular basis • Ensure staff are effectively trained to perform their roles • Provide input to resource planning activities with Wells Manager Exploration to ensure sufficient staff resources to meet objectives • Monitor and oversee works of drilling contractors ensuring performance in line with contract People Management• The incumbent will mentor, coach and support less experienced staff • The incumbent must adhere to the annual HR cycle and meet deadlines within the appropriate timeframes I really don’t know what this means and why is it there, HR can help Health Safety Security and Environment (HSSE)• Ensure safety has the highest priority and is at fore front fo well planning, execution and in discussions with all contractors and service providers. • Every individual has a duty to both themselves and those around them to ensure that safe practice is adhered to at all times. In addition to any specific accountabilities for HSSE, all managers are accountable for HSSE within their area of the Business and are responsible for ensuring that their team adopt exemplary HSSE behaviours • All QGC employees must adhere to the Business Principles at all times under Conduct, Our People, Society and HSSE and to participate in relevant training • Ensure all safety actions are tracked and closed out in timely manner • Ensure documented trail to all key decisions • Ensure compliance with Regulatory obligations under the relevant State/Territory Petroleum Act • Periodically audit effectiveness and implementation of Contractors SMS. Specifically with regards to Permits, WWI (Written Work Instructions), JSA (Job Safety Analysis) and Environmental compliance • Ensure that all equipment assurance is in place and that certification of equipment used onsite is complete and current • All QGC Contractors are expected to be aware of, and adhere to the BG Life savers and Business Principles at all times under Conduct, Our People, Society and HSSE and to participate in relevant training | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience• Similar drilling and supervisory role in a top or middle tier Deep gas wells ( TGS ) operating company for land operations
• Similar phase of exploration and appraisal drilling activity. • Relevant experience in managing staff and contractors • Experience developing and implementing standard operating procedures • Experience providing input to safety plans, participating in safety meetings and audits and reporting on safety
Knowledge, Languages, Skills and Attributes• Capable of managing multi-disciplinary teams
• Excellent interpersonal skills • Ability to make prompt decisions with a continual focus on safety outcomes • Working knowledge of OH&S Act, Petroleum and Gas Act • Knowledge of safety and environmental legislation impacting drilling operations • Proven Project Management skills • Effective communication skills (verbal and written) • Results orientated with a commitment to quality and continual improvement • Possession of Well Control certificate • Ability to informally train and mentor staff • Gas detector training • First Aid Certificate

• Regular travel to QGC work sites will be required to fulfil this role
