The Organisation
BG Trinidad & Tobago a major producing asset for BG Group, contributing some 27mmboe production per year with a strategic objective to increase this to 50mmboe per year by 2020. BG Group supplies gas to the domestic market and to Atlantic LNG with around two thirds of production being exported as LNG and the remainder going to the domestic market. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to have a dedicated E&I engineer to support the Execution of the Starfish development topsides electrical and instrumentation scope of work.

Key Accountabilities
The core accountabilities are primarily the technical competence of the E&I engineering. This includes accountability for the technical review of engineering plans and procedures relating to E&I.
Assist in the preparation of interface agreements for installation of electrical & Instrumentation equipment. Supervise sub-contractors Technical deliverables and verify progress to support the project schedule. Assist the Engineering Manager in the development of the design basis. Ensure that project standards and functional specifications for electrical equipment and instrumentation are suitable. Where exceptions and/or deviations from BG’s Corporate Standards are proposed, subject these to formal dispensation per BGA-ENG-GEN-OS-0004. Demonstrate visible leadership and commitment to excellent HSSE performance in support of the Project Manager’s accountabilities, Support the review of concession requests relating to electrical equipment and instrumentation elements. Undertake a review of previous lessons learned, and the incorporation of relevant lessons learned into the design. Establish the requirements for design deliverables relating to electrical equipment and instrumentation. Review design deliverables and follow up on comments to ensure they are suitably incorporated. Participate in HAZIDs and HAZOPs and other HSSE-related reviews. Contribute to project risk workshops and follow up on engineering-related actions relating to risk response action plans. Monitor progress of the development of electrical equipment and instrumentation design deliverables and propose corrective actions in the event of potential schedule overrun (where necessary, in consultation with the Engineering Manager). Undertake inspections of equipment at various stages of its manufacture, as required. Prepare technical and progress reports to support flow of key information to management to assist in decision making. Establish the process for applying criticality ratings to procured items (relative to the degree of inspection required). Contribute to the management of change process in terms of engineering reviews and potential changes and variation order proposals relating to electrical equipment and instrumentation. Assist with the process for design verification by a third party. Participate in peer assists, peer reviews, value improving process workshops and the end-of-stage TAS review as required. Participate in the procurement process (e.g. ITT requisition packages) through the evaluation of technical submissions. Co-operate with the Operations Representative in the development of the Operations Assurance Plan that describes the operational activities, assurance requirements and deliverables, including plans for readiness for handover and commissioning and approve same. Assist with the development of operating manuals and ensure that the manuals relating to electrical equipment and instrumentation are produced in a quality and timely manner. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Professional engineer with experience and a minimum of a Bachelors degree.Should be an associate or full member of a professional body such as Institute of Electrical Engineers and show evidence of ongoing professional development. Experience working on brownfield construction and commissioning scope. Offshore project environment is desirable, Critical experience in overseeing electrical and instrumentation engineering.. Experience with interfacing between drilling operations, production operations and projects. Self starting, motivated, ability to manage complex interfaces, ability to work within several teams. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
