SightLife is one of the nation's largest providers of corneal transplant tissue and a leader in working in new research areas of ophthalmology. We have provided over 53,000 individuals with sight restoring transplant tissue. SightLife is responsible for corneal tissue recovery in Washington State, Northern Idaho, Montana and Northern California. We distribute tissue to over 40 countries each year and are recognized by Global Health Leaders as one of the key organizations working on the elimination of global corneal blindness. In 2011, we provided more than 5,200 corneas for transplant, meeting the need in our region and helping fill gaps across the United States and the world.

Primary Purpose:
Responsible for continued improvement of donation outcomes of region by managing and improving hospital donation programs, professional partner relations, public education, recovery and general administration of eye bank activities. Represent SightLife to ensure comprehensive community participation in eye donation program in the state of Montana.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement strategic hospital donation program improvement plans to meet established goals of region.
• Cultivate & maintain effective donor program relationships with hospitals, coroners, medical examiners, funeral homes and other healthcare professionals in Montana to maximize donation program.
• Partners with hospitals and other healthcare professionals for continuous improvement of donation program, including increased conversion rate of potential eye donors and donation partner satisfaction.
• Develop, present, and document educational in-services for specified professional and public audiences.
• Assists designated facilities in development of policies & procedures related to eye donation and recovery.
• Gathers referral, potential, and actual donor statistics for each assigned hospital account and for assigned region. Completes data analysis, recommendations, and reporting of information to each account.
• Analyze and evaluate donor referral trends and developments of region.
• Develops new referral sources in donor service area.
• Problem solves before, during and after actual donor cases. Provides and receives feedback from medical review coordinators, referral coordinators, recovery technicians and family services.
• Maintains appropriate cooperative efforts with other regional procurement and transplant programs.
• Coordinate Hospital, Partner and Family Services activities and provide regular updates concerning donor service area activities.
• Maintains accurate and current donation partner profile information in database.
• Oversees Montana recovery staff to ensure adequate and efficient coverage for MT donor recovery activities, ensuring the process occurs in a professional, efficient, high quality, and timely manner.
• Evaluate recovery, hospital services, staffing, and administrative activities of Montana and interact with Operations management team to implement improvements.
• Assist in budget planning and the evaluation of the cost effectiveness of Montana operations.
• Perform other projects and duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
• Will require 50% statewide and regional travel.
• Must meet driving record requirements.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a wide variety of constituents including public speaking and facilitation skills
• Proficiency with a Windows operating system, MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook), and database programs.
• Ability to manage projects, organize a variety of tasks, manage multiple and occasionally conflicting priorities simultaneously, meet deadlines and accurately attend to details
• Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
• Effective problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills.
• Experience at successfully building and maintaining client-based relationships.
• Must be able to work long hours, nights, and weekends when needed.

Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
• Bachelors Degree or 4 years’ experience in healthcare, public relations, communications or marketing field preferred.
• Minimum of three years in eye/tissue/organ donation preferred.
