Working in 50 developing countries across Asia, Africa and the Americas, Plan aims to reach as many children as possible, particularly those who are excluded or marginalized with high quality programs that deliver long lasting benefits by increasing its income, working in partnership with others and operating effectively.
Plan has been working in Pakistan since 1997, using Plan’s Child Centred Community Development Approach with a focus on rights-based work, the current programs focus on Girls Education, ECCD, Mother & Child Health, Disaster Risk Reduction and Advocacy Child Rights.
One of Plan’s global strategic priorities is to grow and diversify its sources of income. In the Asia region, Plan believes, it can grow its income to USD100 million of grant expenditure by 2015 from its current position of approximately USD 60 million. The Business Development Specialist is needed to support the achievement of Country targets and learning regarding the funding portfolio, while assisting the Country Office to develop a strong professional image among Plan donors so that additional grant funding is acquired to grow and support Plan’s programmes in Pakistan. This will be achieved through:
1. Actively seeking and maximizing opportunities for additional funding from a variety of sources;
2. Strengthening the capacity of the in-country Grants and Programme Teams to acquire and implement increased sustainable grant funding. 
3. Enhance Country profile through strong and active networking with donors/stakeholders.  

Dimensions of Role:• In line with the regional target of USD 100 million of grant expenditure by 2015, the target for Pakistan is currently USD 55.5 million between 2013 - 2015.
• Provide capacity building to the Grant and Programme teams.
• Expand donor portfolio development in Pakistan with institutional and corporate donors.
• Proactively work with National Organization (NO) counterparts to identify and develop appropriate grant opportunities.
• Oversight and coordination of the development, writing and packaging of grant proposals for eventual submission through grants department).
• Act as an interface between the in country Programme and Grants departments.
• Oversee and coordinate the development, writing and packaging of grant proposals from concept through to award.
• Exploit innovative models for growth

Knowledge, Skills, Behaviours, and Experience Required to Achieve Role’s Objectives:
Qualification and Experience 
• Development professional preferably with a Masters degree or equivalent in a relevant area and experience in grants management, fundraising, alliances and partnerships.
• Demonstrable, progressive work experience in this or related discipline with a recognized institution.
• Proven experience of preparing successful project concepts and grant proposals.

Knowledge • Knowledge of the various donors interests, priorities and requirements;
• Knowledge from experience on the systems needed to ensure donor compliance at proposal and implementation stage
• A knowledge of result based management and the development of impact indicators
• Knowledge about Pakistan culture as well as the funding environment
• Excellent Knowledge of all key components of a standard proposal package (including log frames and budgets)

Physical Environment and Demands:• Based in Pakistan Country Office with field travel whenever necessary, extensive visit to donor representatives and limited international travel to meet with donors/National Offices.
