Conflict Risk Network Consultant

Conflict Risk Network
Conflict Risk Network seeks a highly skilled, well organized, detail-oriented consultant to perform administrative, writing and editing functions on a part-time basis for the period of February-March 2013. This office-based consultant will work closely with the Network’s Director on projects related to membership, fundraising, database, website and research reports as the Network prepares to transition out of United to End Genocide, its current parent organization, to a new organizational host in the first quarter of this calendar year.
The Network includes nearly 100 institutional investors, financial service providers and related stakeholders calling on corporate actors to fulfill their responsibility to respect human rights and to take steps that support peace and stability in areas affected by genocide and mass atrocities. Our goal is to increase such behavior by corporate actors, and thereby reduce conflict risk. The Network provides timely and in-depth research reports for investors and other members, and is sustained through a combination of member subscription fees, grants and donations.
Scope of Work (estimated to require 20-25 hours/week): Membership: Assist the Network’s Director in creating order forms, communicating with members and prospective members regarding subscription fees, collecting and recording fees and analyzing membership income. Fundraising: Assist the Network’s Director with grantwriting, individual donor solicitation, donor cultivation and pledge acknowledgments. Database and Website: Plan and manage the transfer of the Network’s member records, online presence and electronic and paper files to a new organizational home, in consultation with the Network’s Director and key administrative staff at United to End Genocide. Research Reports: Copy-edit, proofread and fact-check Network reports and other communications.
Qualifications:
• Proven editing, writing and proofreading skills
• Well developed administrative, systems and data management skills
• Experience with grantwriting, membership solicitation and/or individual donor fundraising
• Superb attention to detail
• Efficiency and ability to meet deadlines
• Excellent phone manner
• Knowledge of human rights standards, business, finance or corporate accountability a plus
