From New Broadcasting House in London, the Radio newsroom supplies a radio service to R2, R3, R4, 6Music, local Radio and BBC Online.
The job involves producing high quality radio news against tight deadlines. You'll attend planning meetings and offer programme ideas and stories as well as supervising junior staff within the team. You'll use direct input via the various support systems (ENPS, VCS, Jupiter, Coolplay etc) and to conform to BBC News practices for handling and checking scripts and preparing material for transmission.
The newsroom is a 24/7 operation and you will be required to work all shifts on the rota, including nights.
We're looking for a senior journalist who can shape the news agenda and is used to dealing with major stories under pressure. You'll need to be an experienced journalist with strong editorial judgement and have the knowledge about the networks we serve as well as being an excellent writer, familiar with law as it affects journalism and have the ablity to lead a team. You'll also have a keen interesest in the BBC's multi-media news outlets. The ability to broadcast is also required.
