Your role

You’ll deliver high quality customer service by communicating effectively and professionally with internal stakeholders while assisting in expanding the Service Management Knowledge Base.
We are actively looking for passionate individuals across a variety of roles.

Service Design and Delivery

We have a number of roles in the service design and delivery organisation including service designers, service introduction analysts and service delivery managers.

Service Owners

You’ll take responsibility for IT services or groups of IT services throughout their whole lifecycle. You’ll engage with leaders in the organisation to understand the strategic direction of the capabilities that your suite of IT services support and lead the programmatic evolution of the IT services to meet those needs. You’ll focus on the whole life costs of the service and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.

Service Designers

Working with projects, you’ll support the design of quality IT services in conjunction with our customers. You’ll work to develop all aspects of a target operating model and assist with its implementation. You will be an instrumental part of the team, working with stakeholders of varying seniority to ensure the correct model is in place and the transition is smooth.

Service Introduction Analysts

You’ll work closely with project and programme managers to introduce new services into the live environment. Inputting directly into the project planning process, you’ll ensure successful and timely implementation of new services.

Contract Delivery Managers

You’ll ensure that contracts with third party suppliers are delivering a fit and proper service to their end users. Working across the contract lifecycle, you’ll ensure that contracts continue to meet business needs and deliver excellent value to the organisation. As part of this role, you will develop relationships with key suppliers.

IT Services Analysts (ITIL)

Service Desk Analysts

This is a frontline customer-facing role in what can be a fast-paced environment, where the organisation will rely on you to meet their IT needs. You will deliver a high quality service to all customers and proactively investigate IT challenges that you may face.

IT Service Request Analyst

You’ll support the operations of the organisation by managing users’ access to our systems. As part of a busy team you’ll need to work flexibly, sometimes outside regular working hours, to meet the varied needs of users and support other core processes.

Change and Configuration Management Analysts

These specialists own, deliver and improve the change and configuration processes for IT services to meet the ever-changing needs of the delivery and business as usual aspects of the organisation.

Asset Management Team Leaders and Analysts

This team manages the organisation’s hardware and software IT assets throughout their full lifecycle from receipt to disposal, ensuring movements are tracked and appropriate security protocols are applied. Given the nature of our work, it is critical that IT assets are comprehensively monitored and audited.

Performance and Capacity Management

You’ll be responsible for the delivery and improvement of our Performance, Capacity and Availability Management processes. You will develop the toolset in use to continually increase our ability to meet customer demand, invest wisely to meet future capacity requirements and avoid capacity constraints.

IT Services Continuity Specialists

In this role, you’ll ensure that strategic and tactical technical recovery plans are identified, developed, maintained and successfully tested on an ongoing basis. Working closely with projects and management across the organisation to ensure our policies meet our IT Continuity requirements, you’ll be responsible for reviewing and maintaining DR policies, guidelines and strategies.

Your skills

We are looking for people who can demonstrate genuine subject-matter expertise, as well as a track record of delivering innovative solutions and results. You will also need the people skills to make things happen in a complex and fast-moving organisation. Discretion is vital.

The recruitment process

There are four stages in the recruitment process: a review of your CV and application, a telephone screening interview, a face-to-face interview, and an assessment centre.
Candidates who succeed at the assessment centre will be made a conditional offer of employment. You will then have a security interview with a vetting officer, with a final offer of employment being made after developed vetting has been granted.
To begin your application, please complete our pre-screening questions to find out if you meet our initial criteria. You will then need to complete an application form, supply equal opportunities monitoring information and upload a copy of your current CV.
We will keep you informed all the way up to final offer of employment, letting you know whether or not you've been successful at each stage. Timescales differ from candidate to candidate, but you can typically expect the entire process from application to assessment centre to take about 7-8 weeks.

Your CV

It is essential that your CV:
  • covers the last 10 years of employment and/or education, clearly specifying job and/or course 'from' and 'to' dates in month and year detail
  • explains any unaccounted periods of time or holidays over a fortnight in duration over the last 10 years by specifying the dates and a brief description of what you were doing during this time
  • clearly demonstrates the key activities and responsibilities you have performed in each role detailed
  • states what academic and professional qualifications you possess or are currently studying for.
Your CV must include the above information in order for us to process your application.

Guaranteed Interview Scheme

As part of our commitment to the “Positive about Disabled People” scheme we offer an interview to all candidates with a disability who meet our minimum criteria for the job vacancy that they are applying for. This is known as the Guaranteed Interview Scheme (GIS).
Along with the standard eligibility requirements for this post, your application will be assessed on how far you meet the job specification based on the information you provide in your CV. Your application must score the minimum amount of points set. On successful completion of this stage, you will be invited to interview.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible to apply, you must meet our residency criteria. You must be a born or naturalised British citizen and one of your parents must be a British citizen or have substantial ties to the UK.
Candidates must normally have been resident in the UK for nine out of the last 10 years prior to application. This is particularly important if you were born outside the UK. You will nonetheless be considered if you have, for example, served overseas with HM Forces or in some other official capacity as a representative of Her Majesty's Government, studied abroad or lived overseas with your parents.
Due to vetting requirements you will need to be 18 years old or above to apply. Your application may take around six months to process.
The Security Service is committed to reflecting both equal opportunities and the society we protect.
Owing to the sensitivity of our work, we do not publicly disclose the identities of our staff. Discretion is vital. You should not discuss your application, other than with your partner or a close family member.
