Job Description
• Approver required within the Risk function, specialising in Commodity Risk transactions• To ensure that the quality of the Wholesale Banking credit portfolio of Commodity & Trade Finance clients in China is maintained within acceptable parameters, as defined by VVB credit policy and country portfolio standards (CPS), and that the reporting of information relating to that portfolio is timely and accurate.
• To instill a strong credit culture by setting the highest standards and demanding that these are maintained by all Business teams in country.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
• Credit Process
• Ensuring that the quality of Limit Applications (BCAs) meet Group standards, particularly with regard to the completeness and depth of risk analysis.
• Approving BCAs falling within own discretion and support of applications that require approval outside the territory, where appropriate.
• Approving breaches of CTF Underwriting Standards / Product Program to the extent permitted by WB Credit Policy / Product Program.
• Provide oversight of BCAs approved by credit managers whom the SCO CTF has delegated credit approving authority to.
• Undertake regular client visits to keep abreast of developments of clients and local market
• Monitor past dues and excess reports on a daily basis, and make recommendation where appropriate to RMs / SCO to rectify these irregularities and to minimise losses
• Provide advice and guidance to business units on credit-related issues
• Participate in CCIF/EAR meetings to review credit-related issues
• Assist RMs in identifying accounts showing signs of deterioration and assisting GSAM, where appropriate, in managing substandard accounts to maximise recoveries and minimise losses.
• Credit Policy
• Assist in formulating and obtaining approval of Local Underwriting Standards / Country Addendum which is supportive of the global trade products or specialised business strategy.
• Escalate requirements and recommend changes to Group Policy which does not meet with the local business
Qualifications & Skills
• Prior Credit approval experienced preferred
• If not Credit approval experience, then prior experience in a Credit Analysis role
• Experience in banking in China, preferably including assessment of local risk
• Excellent knowledge of trade finance, with regard to products, policies & risk issues
• Good knowledge of OCC/WB policies & procedures
• CSA & CCC to be passed within one year of starting role
• Prior Credit approval experienced preferred
• If not Credit approval experience, then prior experience in a Credit Analysis role

• Graduate and/or Post-Graduate degree, preferably in finance, economics, or accounting
• Fluent in written/spoken English & Mandarin
