Position Summary The Program Associate will provide programmatic support including finance, logistical, administrative, research, writing and data analysis assistance to Southeast Asia (SEA) programs. This is a part-time 20 hour per week position based in Bangkok, Thailand that reports to the Director for SEA programs. Funding for this program runs through September 2013 and employment thereafter is contingent upon future funding.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in political science, international relations, human rights, or related field
Minimum six months related experience or combination of education, training, and experience
Strong ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
Ability to communicate effectively in a Southeast Asian language preferred
Strong knowledge of human rights principles and mechanisms, and understanding of democracy promotion
Strong understanding of human rights and democracy issues in the SEA region
Mastery of MS Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Knowledge of USG funding regulations, and international donors funding sources
Knowledge of basic accounting principles and grant-related compliance requirements
Strong ability to plan, organize, prioritize work, and multi task to meet tight deadlines
Ability to apply superb attention to detail and consistently produce timely and error free work
Ability to collaborate with others and work as an effective team member
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to meet all goals and deadlines
Discretion, flexibility, the ability to deal with and negotiate conflict effectively
Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality regarding all aspects of work at all times
Some Duties and Responsibilities
Exhibit high work standard, adherence to procedures, and responsibility for assigned tasks
Contribute to the preparation of contracts, MOUs, letters of agreement, and other contractual documents, and ensure that the objectives and terms of agreement are met
Assist in financial management, including preparation of draft budgets and requests for funds
Create, maintain, update and analyze team databases for contacts, vendors and others as assigned
Process payment requests and business expense reports
Conduct research, write first drafts, and contribute to proposal development and other fund-raising activities
Organize participant travel and logistics to the region, including purchasing airline tickets, ground transportation, accommodation, procuring visas, and briefing staff on relevant issues
Organize program logistics and provide administrative support as necessary
Other related duties as assigned.
