Multimedia Newsroom produces a range of daily and weekly programmes, continuous news channel and electronic content, including BBC News Channel, BBC Radio 5live, BBC world news and news on bbc.co.uk and on bbccom. BBC News aims to deliver quality news coverage when it happens with clarity and authority.
You'll be the Overnight Reporter for the joint News Channel/World news overnight service. The output is broadcast on BBC world news from 0100-0630, and on either BBC One or Two. You will be expected to take an active role in suggesting story ideas and will package as required for the output which includes the BBC World News Programme on BBC One at 0500, a much watched hour that helps build an audience for BBC Breakfast.
You'll need to have experience in journalism in television or radio, with a detailed knowledge of the domestic and international news agenda. You'll also need sound editorial judgement and the ability to take responsibility for any brief and select, originate, prepare and develop story ideas. You'll ideally have a good understanding of the main production methods and technology used by BBC News, knowledge of Jupiter and other broadcast equipment to find and view pictures. Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work load and react positively to situations at short notice, often under pressure, is also essential.
