Description
The Landscape Team in Leicester are looking for a gifted designer and career minded individual to join WYGs Place making team as Consultant Landscape Architect.  This is an opportunity to make a key contribution to delivering its increasing workload including; renewable energy, infrastructure, masterplanning & assessment across a wide range of schemes in both the rural and urban environment. The Consultant will provide landscape specific support and assistance to the Principal Landscape Architect in the delivery of their duties.   
The position will include the following duties: 
  • To travel to project sites carrying out or assisting with landscape survey work and carry out the appropriate analysis and presentation of the survey information in accordance with guidelines.

  • With guidance from the Principal Landscape Architect, undertake design development from outline plans to tender and working drawings. The portfolio will include contributing to LVIAs as part of a multidisciplinary team, planning applications and development proposals in close association with clients and stakeholders.

  • Assist in the preparation of, or input into design briefs, master-plans, landscape and design strategies and scheme designs.

  • To contribute landscape input to a variety of projects to enable schemes to be delivered on time and on budget. To use time and resources efficiently to accomplish targeted objectives.

  • With guidance, to prepare Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments for EIA reports and under guidance contribute to the EIA process.

  • To create and generate creative and innovative ideas for the team.

  • To attend and participate confidently and effectively at landscape and design team meetings.

  • To have excellent verbal and graphical presentation and CAD skills

  • To have appropriate project and time management skills.

  • To act in accordance with the equal opportunities policy and undertake the duties as required by corporate and directorate action plans.

  • The post-holder will work in an office and on site in rural and urban settings. The post holder may be required to undertake trips away from home from time to time as the projects require.
Key Competencies
  • Knowledge and some experience of LVIA methodology
  • Good analytical skills as applied to the assessment of existing areas and to proposed developments.
  • Good written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Computer literacy including the use of AutoCAD, Excel, Adobe Photoshop, CorelDraw, ReSoft WindFarm and Microsoft Office and preferably graphics applications.
  • Ability to plan and organize work independently to the satisfaction of the line manager
  • GIS experience advantageous  
Qualifications:
  • 1st degree in Landscape Architecture or related subject/Diploma or post graduate qualification in Landscape Architecture or related subject.
  • Chartered Member of Landscape Institute or evidence working towards PTC
  • A full current UK driving license with access to a vehicle that can be used for business purposes.

Experience
Experience in positions involving landscape and urban design issues and work.  
Knowledge:
  • Appropriate knowledge of landscape and design matters.
  • Appropriate knowledge of landscape and urban design relating to new developments, existing buildings and spaces.
