Registrar and Secretary The University of Hull

The University of Hull is an institution with a long heritage of academic excellence and is rich in tradition. Established in 1927 as England's fourteenth university, it received its royal charter in 1954. The University features some of the most inspirational figures of modern times, and has an illustrious history which includes pioneering developments in science, health, business, humanities and social sciences, as well as performing arts. The University today is a vibrant and ambitious institution, recognised for excellence in learning and teaching as well as a commitment to research, enterprise and community engagement. International in outlook it is also a major player in its region. The University is known for its friendliness, high quality of student experience and satisfaction as well as the employability of its graduates.
The University now seeks to recruit a new Registrar and Secretary (URS) reporting to the Vice-Chancellor and leading the University on issues of governance and compliance, the registry and knowledge management and elements of the student experience. The role is also Secretary to the Council and as such has an independent relationship with the Chair. The URS is a member of the University Executive and Senior Management Group.
This is an exciting and wide ranging role with a major contribution to make to institutional strategic and operational leadership. Candidates will have demonstrated leadership within a large and complex organisation and the ability to work within and lead teams. Ideally they will have a good understanding of the issues facing higher education but whatever their background they will have the intellect and personal credibility to work effectively as part of an academic community.
