Without the exceptional professionals at Volcano Corporation, we simply could not fulfill our mission to improve the lives of patients worldwide.The Director, Learning & Organizational Development plays a key leadership role in developing and delivering solutions that drive organizational and individual performance to achieve key company strategies.  Primary responsibility is to partner with the global business and HR leadership team to design, develop, implement and evaluate targeted solutions (programs, processes and tools) to build people and organizational capability at Volcano.  Scope of remit includes individual and team development, performance and talent management, organizational and succession planning and cultural assessment and development.  The director of L&OD is also responsible for overseeing and coordinating the design and delivery of leadership, manager and individual training programs for Volcano employees globally.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Executing on and providing input relative to refining Volcano's overall talent management and organizational planning strategy and ensuring it supports the company's business goals as well as integrated with the business cadence and operating rhythm. Scope includes individual and team development, hi-potential identification and development, succession planning, performance management, 360 degree feedback and leader coaching and cross-functional job rotation mechanisms.
  • Constructing a global learning and development framework and associated curriculum, including design of leadership, manager and individual contributor training programs that meet the learning objectives of the organization and align with the business strategy and corporate initiatives.
  • Leading the strategic delivery of organizational assessments, engagement and culture surveys, and supporting action-oriented interventions.
  • Participating in the delivery and facilitation of certain learning programs and preparing business leaders and HR staff to deliver and facilitate (Train the Trainer).
  • Consulting with business leaders and HR Business Partners on design and facilitation of key leadership team meetings (e.g., strategic planning, team-effectiveness interventions, etc.).
  • Collaborate with leaders to understand ongoing needs, align talent solutions to address needs, and strive for continuous improvement of organizational and individual performance.
  • Coaching leaders and other HR staff in delivering leader-led/HR-led training.
  • Developing overall budget proposals for assigned function based on planned programs and manages to approved budget, proactively addressing re-forecasting as needed
  • Performing other responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:EDUCATION: 
  • Bachelor's degree in Organizational Development, Learning and Development, I/O Psychology, Human Resources, Adult Education or a related field is required.
  • Master's degree in Organizational Development, Learning and Development, I/O Psychology, Organizational Behavior Human Resources, or the equivalent knowledge and experience is strongly preferred.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: 
  • Eight (8)+ years of successful experience as a Learning and Organizational Development Specialist in a corporate environment, and/or Human Resources Generalist experience, with significant program management experience in OD, talent management, leadership and professional learning programs.
  • Five years' experience in curriculum development and instructional design with an emphasis on classroom and web-based training using instructional design methods.
  • Robust experience with instructional design theory and methods, content development, and program evaluation; must be able to effectively employ various facilitation. techniques, utilize multiple delivery options; and leverage measurement and evaluation theory and methods.
  • Advanced knowledge of adult learning theories and concepts, as well as demonstrated ability to translate content from subject matter expertise into instructional content, by writing textual descriptions, and developing innovative ways to impart complex concepts to learners, through effective facilitation.
  • Experience conducting organizational level, program level, and individual level needs analysis to identify learning and development needs and target program development.
  • Subject matter expertise in leadership content and instructional design methodologies to design and develop leadership development programs for executive and managerial audiences.
  • Strong vendor relationships to develop a network of OD resources and tools.
  • Ability to convert strategy into clear, actionable goals, demonstrated strong bias for action and driven to achieve results.

  • Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication, as well as strong presentation skills with a variety of audiences.
  • Exceptional project management skills, independent problem solving skills, attention to detail, flexibility, and ability to collaborate with others and to work in a fast-paced environment are all qualities necessary to be successful in this position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Ability to hear and speak to employees and outside business associates on the phone and in person.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: 
  • May manage exempt and nonexempt staff in the future; provide input on hire, termination, promotion and salary decisions.
