About the Opportunity
The Newcastle Coffey geotechnical operations has around 15 specialist technical staff sitting within the larger Coffey Newcastle Office incorporating Coffey Information and Coffey Environments. We have had a strong presence in the local market for over 25 years. With long term, key business relationships in place, a proven track record of delivery, Coffey Newcastle is now looking for a new leader to continue with its successful delivery of both technical work and its exciting business plan. In this dual functioning role, you can expect to spend around 50% of your time on technical work and 50% of your time on leadership and management accountabilities.

Reporting to the Service Line Manager of NSW/ACT, this position and office has unprecedented support and guidance from our Head Office in Sydney. This position requires a balance of independence and collaboration in approach, and will require a high degree of judgement and technical expertise of civil engineering works and their associated geotechnical problems.

About You
The opportunity would suit an experienced senior level, geotechnical professional to grow and lead the local business unit in Newcastle. As an experienced professional you will also have a flair for business development, growing and leading an engineering team, and an overall passion for strategic business planning.

You will likely:
  • Have a current or past role of leading a team of geotechnical engineering professionals
  • Have solid experience in civil and/or geotechnical design analysis and geotechnical investigations ideally gained in a consulting environment
  • Hold a civil engineering or engineering geology degree and ideally be a Charted Member with Engineers Australia
  • Enjoy the combination of technical responsibilities and business leadership management
Professionalism and service driven, you will focus on relationship building, geotechnical project delivery and enjoy strategic business leadership. You will have good written and oral communication skills; make responsible decisions on matters assigned and have the ability to prepare comprehensive reports and documentation.
